Quick answer: A company in Taiwan must register a business address, and that address needs a lease and the property owner's written consent. Morning Stars provides a registration address in Taipei's Xinyi District — at the WTC Branch, NT$18,000 per year plus a one-time NT$1,500 refundable deposit (NT$19,500 first payment, tax included) — together with the lease, consent letters and property documents your accountant needs.
What a registration address is
When you incorporate a company or open a branch in Taiwan, the government records a business address for it. Tax notices, official letters and court documents are sent there. You do not need to work at that address every day, but you do need the legal right to use it — usually a lease plus the owner's written consent.
Taiwan's Value-added and Non-value-added Business Tax Act (Article 28) requires a business to complete tax registration with the competent tax authority before it starts operating, and that registration is tied to the business address.
Steps for foreign founders
- 1. Check that your business can use a shared address. Some activities are not accepted — see which businesses cannot use a virtual office address. International trading companies that export or need export VAT refunds cannot register at our addresses.
- 2. Confirm the investment route. If foreign shareholders invest in a new Taiwan company, foreign investment approval is generally required before incorporation. A branch of a foreign company follows a different registration route. Your accountant or lawyer will confirm which applies to you.
- 3. Sign the address agreement. We offer a bilingual Chinese–English agreement. New agreements are signed in person; if you are overseas, a representative in Taiwan can sign with your written authorization. The signed agreement is provided as a PDF.
- 4. Receive your registration documents. After your payment is confirmed, we provide the lease, the registration and sublease consent letters, the house tax bill and the building registry transcript.
- 5. Incorporate and register for tax. Your accountant files the company registration and tax registration using these documents.
